Airports closed after volcanic eruption

---------------

Three airports on Indonesia's main island, Java, have been closed temporarily after a powerful volcanic explosion yesterday (13 February).

Mount Kelud erupted spewing ash into the air of East Java Province, and was heard by residents of Surabaya, 130km away. Areas within 10km of the volcano are being evacuated.

Crew changes at the port of Surabaya are being affected by the fact that Surabaya, Jogyakarta and Surakarta airports have been closed due to reduced visibility and the risk of ash to flight safety. It is not currently clear when when airports will re-open.
